G744 5 ton engine color

I am restoring my M62 with the continental R6602,what was the original
color of the engine and transmission when new in the early 1950's? I
have looked at many of these trucks and every thing under the hood
seems to be O.D.
I have scraped on the block and have found grey over the red
primer,with o.d. over the grey.
