And now for something COMPLETELY different...an MV related post!

My m38a1 had been in a ranchers hands for some time before I acquired it. As a result, much of what was formerly the venting system for running submerged is now gone. Also, the carb & fuel pump are from a civilian jeep and the air intake crossover tube has been reworked to accommodate the new carb. Also, the 24v system remains intact.

Because of the lack of venting, my ignition coil is overheating in the distributor housing. I have plumbed a vent line to the fitting on the back of the the air cleaner and a "free-air" line arranged to allow air in and through the distributor housing, but plumbed so as to keep most particulate matter out of the distributor, but this setup hasn't drawn enough air through the housing to keep the coil cool. End result, is the coil overheats and she won't run.

So far, my only idea has been to plumb my vent line to some point closer to the throat of the carburetor in the hopes that it draws more air through the distributor housing.

I'm looking for a cheap fix here, guys... Any ideas?
