Man, I think I smoked some of these things in college.....
[Dipterocarpus costulatus, Dipterocarpus sublamellatus, Dipterocarpus
cornutus, Dipterocarpus warburgii, Dipterocarpus spp, Dipterocarpus
crinitus, Dipterocarpus apterus, Dipterocarpus lowii, Dipterocarpus
verrucosus, Dipterocarpus gracilis, Dipterocarpus acutangulus,
Dipterocarpus grandiflorus AKA: yang, Malaysian keruing, Indonesian
keruing, Sarawak keruing, kruen, apitong, Sabah gurjun] But for
environmental reasons please try and find some used timber as it is an
endagered species.
Wenge (Millettia laurentii, Millettia stuhlmannii [AKA: panga panga,
palissandre du Congo, dikela (Zaire)] would be a good choice and more
readily available.
Best regards from David Gudmunsen
Contact me off list and I can tell you for ever about timbers.
