I was told by a buddy who has had a trans shop for years that the TH400 does
not handle heat well. Said trans cooler would save most. Said the trans
with overdrive sucked.

Hello again.
You gave me advice about my 1009 over the winter in regards to hard starts.
After putting in new glow plugs, fuel pressure switch and electric fuel pump
it fires up in seconds. I have been monitoring your post because you have
had your 1009 longer then me and have been giving out good advise on them
.I have two questions on the 1009 and by the way before I forget good luck
with the 1008. I want to know how to control my glow plus manually with a
switch. If this is done do you still need the controller card under the
dash? The second thing is I tow a skid steer once in a while with the 1009
it was about 6800 pounds and the trailer is abut 2000. In you latest post
you refer to the tranny over heating, what about the pintal hook itself. Is
this hook strong enough? It pulls the trailer but I never go faster then 20
miles per hour. I change the tranny fluid every year do you think it will
burn out. I heard that the turbo 400 tranny was strong without the over
drive. Thanks Keith
