Diesel conversions for the 3 & 5KW generator sets

I've been told of a military diesel conversion for the standard gas 3 & 5KW
generator sets.

Does anybody have info on these? A link to info? Possibly a manual number,
kit number, etc?

Has anybody had any actual hands on experience with these conversions? Pros
or cons?
