Thanks for all the input on cable guys. I'm at ground zero here as far as
cable because neither winch has any. I like the idea of carrying 300' on the
back winch but I want a little extra safety factor built it. Since the same
winch on the front of the 5 ton wreckers carries 270' of 5/8" improved plow
steel cable, I'm probably going to go with that. I can still use the 5/8
terminating clevis and winch chains as used on the 5 tons. I have no intention of
putting anything but new. quality cable on these winches. This may not be a run
of the mill deuce but if it can't do a little work around here, what good is
it? Some concern was brought up about it being turned too tight in winch
blocks not designed for it. I've got the factory blocks that came with the
pipeline truck so I should be OK.
