Hi Randy and others.
I am diffinitly not the expert on this. I would say
that all of the USAAF or Army Air Corp vehicles were
painted OD during WWII. I have not run across any that
were offically painted Blue except for those vehicles
that were painted Blue over the OD once the USAF came
into being after WWII. I thought it interesting in
that if the 43 CCKW that Randy has does in fact not
have a spec of OD under the Blue and only the red
oxide primer then my only train of thought was the
possibley of some sort of rebuild program that would
have stripped the trucks down and repainted. In the
case of vehicles going over to the new USAF they would
get painted Blue. I suspect however that further
inspection by Randy would probably turn up some OD
somewere along the line. I think an interesting
question here for those of you out there who would
know is did the government do any major rebuild
programs for the CCKW during and after the war like
they did with the jeeps? Later
