Chris,

Panasonic ToughBook is what you want.

They used to make a model that had stamped, reinforced metal panels on the outside, the keyboard was covered with water-tight plastic, external drives, weatherproof connections, and it's own carrying handle. It looked like an very slim aluminum briefcase...very cool looking. I was thinking it was a TF27 or something.
