The manual is TM9-8000 "Principles of Automotive Vehicles". Covers every
thing that makes your mil veh tick. Where your specific vehicle TM maint
manual tells you how to trouble shoot or repair your truck, this TM explains
how/why the system works or was designed that way. Engine design (2 and 4
stroke, timing, valve trains, pistons and conn rods et al), electrical,
fuel, chassis, brakes (hydraulic, air, electric), pto's, carburetion, multi
fuel fuel compensators, injection systems, governors (and why they are set
the way they are - ignore or change if you have DEEP pockets), gas and
diesel specific components, manual and automatic transmissions, transfer
cases, wheels, tires, bodies and hulls, tire inflation systems (shows a DUKW
system as the example) etc, etc, etc. Name the system or it's variation and
you'll find it's covered.
The manual is 780 pages long, a 17.2 MB down load from (ALL TOGETHER

Put 9-8000 in the TM manual number box and hit search, then you can
either save the manual to your computer or read it on line. BE ADVISED-
Don't try this on a dial up. I down loaded a copy a couple of months ago,
but it required a couple of tries due to net traffic and timeouts. I'd
suggest mid week, 0'dark early, east coast time attempts.
I bought a hard copy at Weare for $35 after watching the few ebay
offerings start at $0.99 and regularly top $70 or more, but you may get
lucky.
A definite must have in the Throne Room perusal bin or for taking to the
mall while escorting the troops on provision/logistics runs, since the
downloaded version is a wee bit unwieldy for casual reading.
