Hello List-
With all your valuable information you provided me
with, I was able to find the answers to most of my
questions myself. Here's how I did it (if you were
wondering):
1. I went to https://warfighter.dla.mil and searched
the Warfighter database for the object I wanted to get
the NSN.
2. Hopping on to Federal Logistics Information System
Web Inquiry (WebFLIS)at
https://www.webflis.dlis.dla.mil/WEBFLIS/default.asp
I was able to get all sorts of info, including the
CAGE code.
Here is where I had some problems.... Some of the
items are controled and distrubited by the military
and the CAGE code points the the military supply
group, not the actual vendor.
3. Once I got a vaild CAGE code I took a peek at The
Business Identification Number Cross-reference System
http://www.bpn.gov/bincs/default.asp
which allows you to look at a whole bunch of
information about the business that supply the
military.
These three little steps got me 90% of what I was
looking for in about 1 hour. If you have got some
time to kill and some burning question of 'I wonder
who made that...' you can follow my footsteps and
satisfy your curiosity.
