B52B Tail number 53-0380
Attached to the 95th Bomb Wing
Lost 7/4/61
Shot down by a New Mexico ANG F-100 with an AIM-9 Sidewinder.
Aircraft crashed on Mt. Taylor N.M..
Cause was electrical fault of firing circuit on fighter, resulting in
inadvertent launch of missile.
Not the first Buff to crash but by my records the first to be shot down and
not crash as a result of mechanical or pilot error.
