We have several members running propane in our diesel truck club. They put
a pressure switch in the intake manifold so that when you hit 5psi it opens
a solenoid valve that admits regulated propane into the intake to the turbo.
Some guys are also putting a pressure pump and water injection with a
similar rig, and some are using a two stage system with the water so they
get more volume through a second spray tip above 10 PSI in the manifold.

It works like this: The governor sees the rpm increase as the extra fuel is
burned and it reduces the diesel to keep rpm at the desired amount. This
saves diesel at the expense of propane, which is cheaper.

The water cools the exhaust keeping EGT down under heavy load. We have
tested it with a pyrometer and you drop 200+ degrees after the turbo when
the water is turned on.

Add windshield washer fluid instead of water and you add fuel due to the
alcohol, this gives more rpm and the governor cuts back on the diesel fuel
as well.

That stuff cost a buck a gallon and when added to the propane injection you
might see 10% to 20% more mileage on the diesel.
