I've converted many things to LP, it's pretty simple really. The kits I've
seen are overpriced. You can do the same thing by going to a place that
sells fork truck parts, or we even have a place around here (and I think
they have other branches) that specialises in CNG and LP parts and such.

To convert an engine you need to replace the carb with an LP carp (also
works for CNG). These are very simple devices, you normally get the carb
body seperate from the throttle plate unit, they can look up in a book what
your particlar engine needs, or look up Impco, I think it's all listed in
thier catalog. Then you need a vaporiser/regulator unit. These come in water
warmed and air warmed. For any liquid cooled engine, get the water type,
otherwise if it's an air cooled engine you need to mount the unit in the hot
airflow somehow (it has fins on it). Then there is a third device that you
should have but it's not necessary for it to work, that would be a lock off
valve, either electric (solenoid) or vacuum. I prefer the vacuum type, very
simple and reliable. One thought from experiance, you want to get the
vaporiser/regulator unit as close to the carb as possible, unless I have no
choice I actually connect them using a short brass pipe nipple (hydraulic
type, not plumbing type). Another thing, an engine set for gasoline will
run fine on LP but you could advance the timing for better performance. You
can use the same carb for CNG, but you need the special regulator for it,
which they sell just for that purpose. I have one generator with a 3 port
valve on the carb, one input is the LP regulator and the other is from the
NG regulator. To run on CNG you almost have to advance the timing, and a
lot, I forgot off hand but I think it's like 12 degrees.
