Bill,
Does the in-tank pump run when you turn on the accessory switch? If not,
check the fuse under the cover on top of the pump. If the pump runs, then check
the pressure comming out of it. There is a allen screw plug on top of the pump
where the fuel hard line hooks up. You can install a fuel pressure gage there.
it should read at least 5psi. If the pump runs but does not make pressure there
is a good chance either the bottom cover/pick-up screen has fallen off and the
pump impeller can't make any pressure or the impeller, driven magnetically, can
become jammed while the electric motor continues to run. There is a mechanical
transfer pump on the injection pump which will allow the truck to run but many
times they aren't enough to keep up at moderate loads.
