Yeah, but the law works! How many nuclear devices have been detonated in
Chico? None!
In CA you just need to put a red cap on the business end of your weapon and
the police will know it's a toy. So just get a bright red cap for the end
when you are driving your Mutt (keeps the bugs out too). Don't tell the bad
guys!

Glen in California

Yeah, be glad you're not in CA. You definitely don't want to have inert but
real-looking heavy weapons in the city of Chino. They're so adamant about
it that they passed a city ordinance that imposes a $500 fine for detonating
a nuclear weapon within the city limits.
Only in California!!!!! LOL!

XXXX "Oh, OK, we just were curious. Have a nice day." ??? Or did they try
to
intimidate you???

AP:
Oddly enough they called my work phone, so they already had a clue as to
whom in the area had the jeep. The lady was more curious than rude, and
laughed when I explained. (Prelude to kicking in the door???)
DoD had investigated me after a complaint at the MVPA National Fort Lee show
back in 01. No problems found (That was another do-gooder trying to say I
couldn't have an inert TOW system....)
Still trying to get the letter from DoD Criminal Investigations with their
inspection results back to carry in the back of the seat. They read them to
me, but didn't provide me a copy even after an initial Freedom of
Information Act request (I asked them and they said to use FOIA).
My next call was to my local Sheriff's office to elaborate on the FBI's
inquiry and assure them I'm not invading the County. Very reassuring
conversation, nice to be in a farming county VS city, and definitly not in
California....
Being readly identifiable would seem to be a good thing when everythings
peaceful, but I'm betting it will burn me at 3:30 AM one morning me after
someone bad does something in the area, as anxious agents may knock down my
door first.....and ask questions later... Here's to hoping common sense and
a simple proper legal recon/question inquiry session is done prior to a
raid.... With all the Artillery registration papers BATF has on me, and the
events I bring things to, they should have me on speed dial by now....no
sweat

Funny thing happened following the Mil Show the other day, the local FBI
called up to ask if I knew anything about a guy driving an Anti-Tank missile
jeep around my area during a rain storm last Saturday... I said "Sure, it
was me"...... Seems someone called in to complain about my demilled TOW jeep
driving to the show... Really something a terrorist would drive around in
when they are trying to sneak up on you eh?
I'm seeking AN/TAS-4 Thermal Night sight guts... I want to fix the Thermal
for the kids to see through....(don't want any other TOW electronics, not
going for operational system here, just the thermal parts...)
Could buy a Soviet version, maybe Iraqi, but that's not "restoring it" and
defeats my intended purpose. if you haven't looked through a Thermal, do so
at a Military show one day...Neat, just like "Cops" chasing crooks with
helicopter stuff.
