Hi Stu
Sonny is very much on the money. 55 is a little to conservative but a little
easier on the engine to be sure. Although the M1009 will cruise along
faster due to its higher rear end gears the M1008 is fine in the 60-65 range
max cruise speed. At 60 it is turning approx 3000 rpm. 65 it is running at
the max continuous cruise rpm but still fine for hours on end. To lower the
noise or go faster you would need either an overdrive gear or change the
diff ring and pinion sets.

He may have been pulling your leg Stu, how could he verify such a saying?
Mine seems to be okay running about sixty.
