I replaced the military quick connect fitting under the dash with a size
that matched the fittings in my shop. They're just Industry Standard
threads and the fittings are easy to change. I kept the original fitting
just in case I choose to go back to the original. This has worked well for
at least three years.

I found that if you are in an area that gets cold don't plan on using the
cheep bargain basement hose. I had to buy some in a hurry one day while on
the road and found that it gets very stiff when it gets cold. It works well
in the summer for topping off the tire pressure and other things but is
extremely uncooperative in the winter.

Also, the better hose being more flexible is easy to put into a smaller
space in the cab or the storage box under the cab.

I haven't tried the glad hand approach. I know that is a good solution also
and I may make up one of them as a spare.
