The New Process NP 218 is the first model Transfer Case used in the Humvee.
The New Venture Gear 242AMG is the later model heavy duty transfer case used
in the Humvees since the mid 90's. The FMS shops today have a kit whose NSN
escapes me that they are using to service any Humvees that come in with bad
218 T cases. It has the newer style HD transfer case and all the changeover
parts such as new drive shaft , mounts etc. The NVG 242AMG is also used in
all heavy hummers 10,300 and 12,100 GVW. NVG(New Venture Gear) is the new
company since NP (New Process) was spun off from Chrysler.
