Dear Listers,
Advice needed:-Vehicle - M151A2 owned by colleague.
Problem: - exhaust manifold gets red hot near the junction with the down-pipe
- almost immediately the engine runs.
Checked so far:-
Compression - within specs
Timing - spot-on
Air/Fuel Mixture - correct
Exhaust system - no crush damage, no leaks, no restrictions, no blockages
evident.
Fuel - regular gas, no admixtures or additives.
Plugs are mil-spec in good shape.
No air leaks or damaged gaskets at carb or inlet / exhaust manifolds.
Possible causes:-
Manifold not of correct-grade steel (unlikely - but will try different one)
Restriction inside manifold near exhaust-flange junction (maybe bolt etc
wedged in place) - will check when removed.
Internal failure of one or both mufflers (but no signs of this).
If anyone has further suggestions, they will really be appreciated. Will
report back when this mystery is solved.
thanks in advance & Happy New Year to all.
Ken
