The Feds? Are you a stand up comedian? Seriously I had one case where the
stuff was going to Indonesia. I called the Secret Service, as they are the
Fed credit card boys. They said if I got to over 50-100K to call and they
would put me in touch with the Hawaii office. That was pre-9-11. These
days it is probably less likely.
Seriously, though I have a decent working relationship with the Feds
in various agencies. They just don't have the manpower for the 'little'
stuff. Especially considering there is no 'real' victim usually, just a
huge credit company that bills it to the cost of doing business.
However, on a child rape case that crossed state lines, I asked the
FBI to take the case because of evidence rules issues in this state with a
wiretap and they could not have done a better job. So no one take this as a
fed flame.

I know the logistics get difficult, but this is one area where the Feds
could really make a difference. In my case I was in Indiana, the card
was used in Ohio and that is were the numbers were stolen - and things
were purchased on both the east coast and the west coast. The west
coast purchases is what touched off the credit card companies alert
system. Someone bought train tickets in California. I don't think the
people who used the card numbers were ever pursued at all. What a
racket! I prompted them to pursue the guys in Ohio and I was willing to
drive there if needed, but the card company wanted to drop everything
after they determined that I was not trying to scam them.
