I was the one that started the thread on coke bottle
openers mounted on jeeps. After all the discussions I
have yet to receive a period picture of this field
modification.
I have a 1945 MB and was planning to add one on my
jeep but wanted to get some photographic evidence of
this being done in the field. I reviewed all my period
pictures and couldn't find this modification. One
interesting thing I discovered when reviewing the
period pictures was the absence of:
1) Musette bags attached to the top bows.
2) Water bag on the gas can.
3) Pioneer tools on most of the jeeps in the field.
Some jeeps were missing the spare gas can didn't have
stars painted on the side. In several pictures the
canvas top when down, wasn't stowed, it was rolled
over the top bows.
