What are you talking about with this statement?:

"A lot of the special military equipment used to build the govt spec CUCV
series trucks was special from GM Military Inc, the manufacturer of the CUCV
trucks, which is a separate division of GM. A lot of the items that you
see in the TM & P manuals will not be known to civilian GM dealers or their
parts network unless it is also a crossover part into the civ lines."

Nonsense, these were standard K5 Blazers and the oddity was that NO
special equipment was used. If anything, all of the special stuff was left
off because they were bare bones units with a mil paint job. About 45-55%
of the parts in the 24 and 34P books is still available and is very familiar
with the GM parts desks. The numbers have mostly been superceeded. All
mechanical parts are pretty much available as are body parts with the
exception of the black trim items. There was no special "military equipment
used" to build these trucks. GM has a special division "GM truck & bus"
plant that produced these and were/are very easy to build. The glow plug
controller kits were available until 1993. The glow plug controller network
was the most exotic part of these vehicles and there was a reason for this.
If you read my articles on this subject that I have published to include
"Military Vehicles" magazine, I have made it easy to understand why it was
used.

Of all of the military vehicles ever built, these were probably the
best you could ever own for comfort, reliability, affordability and ride.

And also by the way, there is NO SUCH organization as "GM MILITARY
INC." The name of the division is "GM Defense" and this is under the Fleet
and Commercial division. Click on this for the latest third generation CUCV
info from GM and is a rather hard site to find:
