I don't know if you guys realize how big
the French MV hobby is, but it's there and its
pretty large. There are thousands and US made
Tanks, Jeeps, trucks, Half Tracks and such left
in France that never came back. There's probably
as many Pacific M26 Tank Transporters in French
hands as there are in US hands, (probably more!).
The same goes for Shermans and other vehicles.
Those trucks and tanks were retained post war for
military service, and just like SECO did, many
were converted or used as is for civilian heavy
haulage tasks.
IF this French Regulation sticks, we'll
need to PUSH HARD on congress to allow the
material to be re-imported to the US. It'll be
cheap and it's HISTORY about to the scrapped.
Crank up your letter writing campaign guys, we
need to push on congress to allow re-importation
of this material. It's not going to hinder ANY US
Automotive interest because it's such a
specialized market. And its not a threat to
national security. It is a threat to National
Pride and our sense of history!
