6.2 swap question

Hellow fellow MVers.
Well I have had my 84 M1009 for 10 1/2 years and
driven it daily for the same.
I have gone through 3 6.2 military engines.

I rarely pull anything behind it and I do not drive it
too fast. I've never overheated it or let it freeze
without adequate anti-freeze protection.
I have had two blocks crack on me over time.
One was inside and water leaked into the oil.
This engine has three external leaks. No water / oil
mixing, just constant drips to the outside.
I've been told that many of the 6.2 engines do this.
Now comes the question (s).
I can intall another good running 6.2 that I have
available to me but what would it take to swap over to
the 6.6 GM (Izuzu) engine while retaining the THM400
transmission and 208 transfer case?
Has anyone attempted this? I've been told that the
newer 6.6 engines are nearly bullet-prooof but do
require a computer for elctronic injection. Yuk.. and
How non-military could you get???
I know that this is not correct for a restored
military configured M1009 but I'm starting to think
that 6.2 engines are a mistake.

Any thoughts or advise would be welcome.
My e-mail is jimm1009@yahoo.com
Thanks,
Jim
