You have to decide what you are insuring the vehicle for, replacement
value or just so you can meet your states requirements for registration.
Almost any collectors type of insurance is to protect you against the
loss of your investment. That means you have to make an effort to protect
your insurance company against loss by keeping folks from stealing or
damaging your 'toy'.
If you don't put fire, theft and collision on it and just cover
liability of damage to other peoples property or medical liability of people
in your vehicle, you'll find the insurance agency usually won't care where
you keep it, just how many miles a year you'll drive it which allows them to
calculate the odds on what the chance of a claim is.
Collectors insurance usually will also limit you from carrying anything
or anyone in the back, an important thing to consider if you envision ice
cream runs with the neighborhood in the back or hauling groups of folks in
parades or letting folks climb on it in displays.
If you can, register it as a historic or antique vehicle to keep the
costs down, because if you register it as a commercial (23,000 pound
vehicle) fees, insurance and other 'taxes' can become close to ruinous for a
'hobby' vehicle.
