Unknown Military Vehicle

While hiking through the local underbrush I came across a vehicle
that was a military type. Let me tell you what I found. It has a half
cab,only covering the drivers side. black out lights on the top of
the fenders,a brush guard made of bar material also a cab type of
enclosure on the back, I think this is or was a crane, or steam
shovel type of construction machine. The arm or shovel part was not
connected nor in the immediate area. I was at work at the time and
alas no camera, however I'll try to get out this weekend to get some
pics. Also a interesting name on the side of the rear cab The Bantam
Company and then some other writing,can't remember. Any Ideas of what
I came across?
