Actually, I'd prefer to dump the taxes and make every major highway a
toll road. User fees directly tied to upkeep of what is used beat vague
taxes on everyone. My commute to work is completely over surface
streets in a town of about 10,000. I use the federal highways about
once every two months. Many people use them a couple of times a day.
