Just about anything will be better than the original power plant. The
original tornado was about the only problem with the truck.
I have seen a ford 300 six installed , chevy 350. chevy 6.2 diesel and a few
with a cummins diesel installed.
if money were no issue I say go with a cummins, On a budget a chevy 350
