Well, I got the scrap yard jeep unloaded first thing this morning & then it was straight off to work, so it's having to sit in the driveway in all its "glory." Told the kids to stay away until I can clean it up. It's just nasty.
Meanwhile, my scammer (ever hopeful that his first check will eventually get through) has had to be assured that it STILL has not arrived (even though the forgery HAS arrived and I'm lying to him about not receiving it). I suppose his concern is that I will have an opportunity to compare the two which suggests the next check I receive will be exactly like the first. Bummer, because I was hoping for something a little different than the first just for a little variety. In any case, I think I have developed a story that just might get him to send me a THIRD check before I give him the bad news.
Interestingly enough, the emails suggest I either have a single scam case-worker on the other end who is the only one communicating with me or, if more than one person is involved, they're keeping very close track of the emails so as not to have any hiccups in the continuity of our communications. I'm just guessing but I'd bet these guys work many many scams at one time.
What I'm STILL working on is how to let him know (in the most dramatic fashion) that I've been scamming him since I got the first forged check. Maybe I'll finally agree to send him some money back & instead, send him a xerox copy of my bare bottom. I suppose most of these boobs just clam up & disappear once they know the game is up. Anyone know how inquiries into a simple email address might yield some more substantial information about the person or organization behind the email?
