That's why the new Ethylene Glycol(green) stuff of the late 50's was often
Darryl Bauman Jr.
referred to as "permanent" antifreeze.
Old timers still use that term occasionally.
The new Propylene Glycol antifreeze(orangish-red in color) is supposedly
long life stuff. We're finding that after 3 years it starts getting crappy. Also,
if it gets excessive air into the cooling system, the Propylene Glycol turns
into a brownish mud. It works great at plugging up heater cores.
Be sure to replace the antifreeze in your MV's(and civi stuff) every 2 to 3
years!
Antifreeze is cheaper than headgaskets & heater cores..
