Most businesses do accept credit cards. I think the problem is that
a lot of the "businesses" you are dealing with are just people who
sell parts out of their garages. The major credit card companies charge
these people for the equipment and for each transaction. For a lot of
these people, they just do not sell in enough volume to justify the
expensive of that equipment.
I understand your frustration though. About 10 years ago I wanted to
join a club in England that dealt with Triumph Mayflower cars. They
would only accept payment in pound-sterling. Lots of hassle to do
such a simple task.
