Steve,
I also knew very little about Ferrets before I got mine. I bought mine
through Greg Cash, who is an agent for Lionheart Vehicles Nottinghamshire,
UK. Thier prices range from $7500- $9500 Which includes delivery to your
closest seaport. or three for $19,500. Greg is on line at MilVeh@aol.com, or
call him at (541)946 1611. From what I have seen, importing yourself is a
major headache, but it can be done. Some prices I checked in the UK were not
compettetive with Lionhearts. It is hard to shop for a particular vehicle.
Most others I have seen in the U.S. are $10,000-$12,000, but they are already
titled, which might be a consideration.
Since you are going to the UK, you might be able to arrange an inspection of
Ferrets available from Lionheart, and pick the actual one you want. Greg also
has manuals for sale if you want to learn more. e-mail me with any specific
questions, and I will try to answer them. There are also alot of very
knowledgeable people on this list when it comes to Ferrets or other British
armor.
