I've only restored 1 M38-A1....but it sounds like you've got one with multiple
personalities!
I'll send this out as a general questionaire to the Mil-Veh group. You'll get
lots of responses......
Good luck...... Jim

I'm new to the restoration of military vehicles and appreciate the quality of
discussions I have seen here. To that end, I need some help identifying some
markings on my 1953 M38A1 s/n 55511 dated 08/53, block 806279-W-12-O-AR CU CR.
The only history I do know is that I purchased it in the Tulsa area and it's
orange in color now with "A Unit of Your Civil Defense" stenciled below the
door jambs in white. It also had a 10" diameter sticker on each side of the
hood with "This Is A Unit Of Your Civil Defense" It is a very dark od under
the hood and has 3 or 4 different od shades on the rest of it. The back seat
bed area was red at some point in it's life (emergency/fire???)
1. There are two maintenance tags with location identification I do not
understand. They are metal tags afixed to the fuel pump with the inscription
"Overhauled At: CS-S 12/66" and the other is on the ignition box "Overhauled
At: OK-ANG 4/68" I surmise the OK-ANG is the Oklahome Air National Guard.
Any ideas on the CC-S?
2. Also, when the hood is raised, almost top dead center reads in white: "TI
DEC 66" Any ideas on the TI? DEC 66 is pretty straight forward for
December of '66. (Technical Inspection????)
3. And last... the front bumper has stenciled "45BDLX 145G" on the left
side and "E1" on the right. I have no idea on this one.
I'm still in the inventory stage of restoration. Just about everything
appears to be intact. Any assistance on the above would be appreciated.
