M38-A1 Steering Bellcrank Rebuild

Hi! While taking my M38A1 out for a spin today, I hit a section of
washboard road. My front end started to shimmy in a most violent and
uncomfortable manner! Letting off the gas brought the jeep under control and
home I went to puzzle over the problem.

Earlier, I had rebuilt the tie-rod ends, steering sector gear, etc. While
working on the front end I had noticed that the bellcrank pin goes into a
casting riveted onto the frame under the radiator. The pin is new, so it's
not worn. However, I did notice that the casting is worn somewhat. This
leads me to my question, can the bellcrank pin casting be re-bushed. If so,
what is the best way. Or is it better to get a replacement takeoff. If so,
how do you get the old one off and how do you rivet a new on in its place.
Can bolts do the job?

Thanks in advance for any help the mil-veh list can give. The advice from
all its subscribers is outstanding!
