I wonder is there anyone, who has a DUKW that doesn't leak in the
water?? Most DUKW-owners I talked to, admitted that their DUKW does
leak, and some say their DUKW stays completely dry, although I never
saw any of the "dry" DUKWS in the water. My DUKW does leak a bit,
and I don't care about that, because why does it have bilge-pumps
anyway?? A man I know from Normandy '94, was a DUKW driver for the
British Army in WW2 (Arthur Smith, 297 Coy R.A.S.C. C-platoon ), he
was in Normandy untill August '44 and then went into Belgium and
Holland (Market-Garden) (They actually tried to reach Arnhem in
a few DUKW's, but the Germans discovered them and sunk a few ).
Anyway he told, that he never saw a DUKW that didn't leak, and some
factory-fresh one's did leak a lot, so that keeps my DUKW very original.
