Danny,
For a 25 kg package, the rates from Chicago to Amsterdam would be
$180.50 (US) via a freight forwarder, using air freight. This is the
cheapest of several alternatives; DHL would charge $308. KLM air
lines has nonstop flights to Amsterdam from most U.S. cities; they
charge $7.48 per kilo (=$411.40 for 25 kg) for freight.
You could send the items via surface transport using the U.S. postal
service, provided that the shipment can be broken into packages
weighing no more than 20 kg each. The charge for 20 kg would be
$89.64; an additional 5 kg would be $33.96. This would bring the
total to $123.50 for the whole works. Surface mail supposedly takes
4-6 weeks; my experience is that it often takes even longer.
Rates from the Los Angeles area are likely to be similar.

Subject: shipping
Hy all,
I want to buy some parts in the USA.
Does any of you know what it should cost to send a parcel from the US west
coast to the Netherlands, Europe ?
The parcel is about as big as a suitcase and weighs about 25-28 kilograms.
Thanks a lot,
Danny
