Hello,
I'm not sure about the answer to your question, but I offer this piece
of advice:
Be sure that there isn't a groove worn in the pinion shaft, otherwise
replacing the oil seal alone will not correct the leakage.
I had to replace the pinion shaft in the front diff on my CJ2 because
of wear in the oil seal area.

I need to replace the oil seal on the drive pinion shaft.
Can I do this by just removing the drive flange and replace the oil seal
and gasket, and put it back together? Or do I need to adjust the
differential or pinion after this operation?
