M151A1 troubles

Hey all, I was wondering if you could assist me with a simple problem. I'm
currently using my 1968 M151A1 as a daily driver for me (normal, I detest new
cars) and as a taxi for my friend cause there car went belly up. This
taxi-service has resulted in my driving further and more often than I
normally would, including a bit of highway use that I would usually avoid
like the plague. It is this highway use that has resulted in a symptom that
concerns me. After I drive at 60-65mph for10min or more my MUTT begins to
smoke a bit at idle. I don't know if it is smoking while on the road, or at
higher RPMs but if I rev the engine a bit while sitting still it goes away.
The smoke has a black sort of color, mixed a little with white, but none of
the dreaded blue that I can see. There may also be a small amount of power
loss (this too goes away) but it is hard to tell because of the very gusty
winds we have been having here in Maine.
If there is actually no power loss, maybe I'm just blowing out carbon
deposits? (wishfull thinking!) My thought it it's a valve and/or seal.

Thanks alot!
Geoff
