That is for WW2 Jeeps, if it's an M-38 it should have the inside tag on the
front of the right side wheelhouse on the sloping part which starts with
MC, not MB. It would also have a tailgate which is reinforced to carry the
spare tire, 7 inch headlights and a bunch of other less obvious
differences.
It's also possible it's a civilian Jeep which would be very similiar to the
M-38 except the tag would be on the firewall, under the hood on the
passenger side. There would be two tags which may or may not match, but
one says body and the other is the VIN. Also, the tailgate would say
Willys, (as would the hood and windshield frame) but it would not carry the
spare. If it's an early civilian, the tags would be more like the MB style
and location.
Of course, if it was built from parts it may have none of these tags or all
of them or some combination. Also this assumes it's a flat fender and not
one of those other things.
If it has a drum type winch which says Ramsey Model 35 or 73 or 50R and
it's complete it's probably worth more than the Jeep. Same if the winch
looks like it belongs on a boat.
Finally, give the thing a break. Why try to start it at all? Whether it
runs or not the day you see it won't change it's value significantly.
