Sorry to take you to task but the 6V53 is not a Sherman Tank engine.
It is quite possible (considering the de-mill order) that these engines
are from M113A1 (alloy block) or later (iron block) APC's, also used in
the
8 wheeled GM Canada LAV 25 APC. The engine(s) you are thinking of for
the
Sherman (Grant and Lee also) were the twin pack straight 6's.
6-71 series I think, as the only production V motor in the Sherman would
be the GAA Ford V8. At 215HP (roughly) the 6V53 would be risking a
hernia
in a Sherman.
