Hi Mike, welcome to DUKW ownership (mine is #14692) DUKW markings are
standard and not particularly interesting, almost all of them can be
seen in the DUKW operators manual and you will have many happy hours
cutting out new stencils for the beast when you have repainted it. A
particular favourite is the tire pressure signs at the end of the
aisleway. The one thing worthy of note would be anything special to a
USMC DUKW, (Jack Tomlins USMC DUKW had "NO DIVING FROM RING" stencilled
inside the M36 mount for example) and you would just have to compare
the existing markings with the operators manual to see any changes.
You would know the USMC serial number and that would be the main thing.
Some DUKW stencils moved or changed during the production, as with the
"USE THIS EYE FOR LIFTING ONLY" on the front and back decks, which was
a cast (bronze?) plate up to #8000 or so.

There are DUKW links from the MVPA page and owners worldwide on and off
the web, feel free to post particular questions, but the best advice
for now is for you to get the operators manual, all three of the
maintenance manuals, AND an ORD 7-8-9 parts list, then get set for some
serious eye strain. It would be a good idea to give your geographical
loction when posting a question, though, as it might make some help
route more obvious than others.
