Labelled "L V7/ML D B6243 Reception Net"
It is a long metal handle (about 2 feet)with a canvas pouch on one end
(inverted pyramid shape) with a brass grommett at its base, presumably
to let water drain out. Half way along the handle there is a short
protrusion which would indicate that this 'net' was fixed to a bracket
or similar. My theory is that it was used on the side of a vehicle and
swung out to collect dispatches or similar. Am I close to the mark or
way off
target ? The stores of the Norwegian mil-veh collectors club, HMK, has a
few of these nets, which were part of a consignment of British MV parts
taken over from the Norwegian Army some years ago. Unfortunately nobody
knows exactly how and why they were used.
In the hope of finding a solution to this mystery, I respectfully pass
this matter over to all of you.....
