Hi John, you may already know, but the Norwegian Army transferred all
its Weasel spares to the military vehicle club (HMK) who keep (kept?)
them near Kongsberg well south of Oslo. I only visited once, the good
news is it was full of spotlights, controls, brakets, shafts, bearings,
gears, etc. All N.O.S. and not too expensive (by Norwegian standards
that is) Bad news was that there was very little of the really useful
stuff that hadn't already been grabbed, and NO tracks, good or bad.
The Norwegians sold some M29Cs with floatation gear on, then civilians
used them on frozen lakes, thinking that they would float if they fell
through the ice ! Subsequent Weasels were sold without floatation
gear which was junked, but I still think Norway would be the place for
parts, though I heard that they were consolidating their parts stocks
and maybe moving to Hola Farm where they keep the GMC and Dodge stuff.
All the Weasels I've seen in and from Norway were early (leaf-spring
front) units, I presume yours is coil spring from the serial, but I've
never seen a coil spring unit outside the US. I've had four of the
things, and I did keep the odd compass bracket, ignition switch, and
windscreen heater bit but nothing spectacular. Feel free to e-mail me
off-list if you need particular parts. Brian. C. Asbury in Canada has
pretty much all the spotlight stuff and cable reels, etc. Once again
the advice would be better if I knew where you were, but nobody ever
puts their location on here (except Auke !) Gordon, Fakirk, Scotland.
