Well, that's a question I've been asking a lot of people. We just want to
sell it for what it's worth. Unfortunately, many people want to buy it for
less than it's worth. My Father-In-Law tried to sell it through Hemming's
Motor News a few years ago. He got a lot of calls from people who wanted him
to GIVE them the GPW.
Right now I'm mostly collecting information and trying to find appraisers
and/or some unbiased method of putting a value on it.
If the value is too low, I'll buy it myself, or another relative will buy it.
I've tried asking the question here in the mailing list, but nobody wants to
venture any information about prices for GPWs. I've seen some ads and some
web pages with asking prices, but I don't have any data yet on actual selling
prices.
I'm prone to thinking closed-bid methods are best, but my prior efforts at
selling a vehicle that way failed. Now, I'm planning a web page with photos
and details about the vehicle. First I'll present details, and collect
information, and bids from anyone who wants to bid on it. Then if none of the
bids compels us to sell, I'll try to decide on some solid figure, and the
first one to arrive with the money, gets it.
