[MV] NOS tires

Would anyone on (or off) the list have any NOS (pre DOT) 600x16 tires? I
have several singles and have been trying for years to make a set of at
least 4, preferably 5. No luck, each time I find one it just starts
another set which goes nowhere. Don't have 2 the same. NDTs or, even
better, the chevron tread pattern, (like tractor drive tires, called R1
tread). I believe Firestone called them "Ground Gripper" subheaded ND
Type. I will buy singles and/or trade the ones I have to help someone else
make a set also. I will pay almost anything, reasonable or not for 5 new
ones. Or have lots of flat fender parts to trade, NOS and used. Not the
modern, foreign ones available. Also 600x16 passenger type, as long as
they're NOS. I'd also consider used as long as they are truly excellent.
Have 5 original Goodyears on an MB with about 80% tread and no dry rot but
one is cut. Would like to buy or trade for 1 NOS or used in the same
condition to complete this set. I am willing to be the hub of this wheel
if any of you spokes out there want to try to help put together sets, I'd
like to have the first set but after that, I'll share. Six months ago a
fellow showed me a disassembled MB he had just bought. The guy he got it
from had started to restore it in the 60s. Apparently, all he ever did was
take it apart AND buy 5 new tires for it. Never got any further than that.
Eventually, illness made him sell it to this fellow. Kind of gives you
pause to think of someone with the same dream 35 years. But it also gave
me hope that these things are out there. So, if you have any leads that
you think might help. Even crazy stuff, like your neighbor was a Firestone
dealer before he suddenly went into the witness protection program. Let me
know, I'll track him down.
Thanks and regards,
JP
