Thanks for all the suggestions. I've seen a few ads in the military
magazines, gotten some price guidelines from someone who had some kind of
guide to military vehicles, and I've seen some ads on the web.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen a GPW for sale "live" since the military vehicle
convention in Galveston some years ago.
However, from what I know about this GPW, having seen the rebuild take place,
and knowing how my father-in-law works, particularly when he's doing work for
his daughter, I think it's first class. Unfortunately, there are a couple of
parts missing. Most notably the top. The bows are there, and the new canvas
is there, but some sewing needs to be done.
I think it's worth $12,000.
That's a little sad when I think about how much he spent restoring it, but
vehicles usually aren't good investments, so I'm not expecting a lot of net
profit. I guess it was worthwhile for him, since it was a hobby of sorts.
Now, though, he's retired, and recent events have deprived him of much of his
retirement income, so he needs to try to recoup the money he spent restoring
this vehicle.
I'll be happy to e-mail you some photos if you'd like to see it.
