When I went to start it, the batteries ( 2 - 12v ) were dead. I used an
automatic 12v charger on each one, and topped off the fluid level before
charging. Both initially took 5 -6 amps for a few hours, with one tricking
off to 1 amp and the other holding at 4 amps during an overnight charge. The
truck started easily the next day, but the "battery generator indicator"
showed higher than normal readings while the truck was running. One day
later, the truck wouldn't start. Potential across one battery was 9v, the
other 6v.
My question is whether this problem is sulfation, and is there a way to
prevent it? I did run the truck monthly during the four month down time, and
I do have a battery cut off to try to prevent this from happening. Anything
else--trickle charger?
Thanks,
Craig
