The University of Notre Dame Maintinance Department had its annual sale
this weekend and I picked up some great stuff. I purchased sever "D"
Shackles and found a 1951 Jerry Can. To really make you envious, each
item was only $1.
The Jerry can reads on the bottom:

Its in great shape on the outside but has a little rust on the inside. I
want to restore it and use it. Is there a method for getting rust out of
the inside? Would I have to coat the inside lining with something to use
it or can I simply use it once I get the rust out?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
