When I purchased my M2A1 a year and a half ago, I was faced with the same
problem many of you are concerned about. I needed to get this 8+ ton
vehicle from Tennesse to South Dakota. I started calling trucking
companies and got rates from $1000.00 to $1500.00. I then called one of
the local long haul companies here in the Black Hills area and made a great
deal. They were willing to haul the vehicle if they could pick it up on
short notice when they were in the general area and needed a load to head
back home with. Of course I wanted my halftrack right away(especially
since I bought it sight unseen and had never seen a real halftrack in my
life), but I was willing to wait for the savings I was getting. Sure
enough, 3 1/2 months later the call came and my halftrack was on the way.
It was delivered to me about 4 days later at a price of $750.00 which I
feel was fair and worth waiting for. So the bottom line is call around
home first, and if you are willing to wait, you can probably get a better
deal from someone wanting to pay for their gas to get back home.
