Hello Mil-Veh Folk:
While we're talking about problems w/ GPW's... I'm wondering if anyone
has any ideas on a problem my father (WW2 Okinawa campaign vet)has
been having with his. The engine has been completley rebuilt, bored,
new plugs, rebuilt carb., wires, etc." the works" and it will run good
for a while, but after a couple of days, it fouls the plugs and skips
so bad it eventually won't crank. The only thing I know that could be
causing it is perhaps gunk in the gas tank. The in-line fuel filter
seems to darken up pretty quick, but not being mechanics, dad and I
aren't sure if this could be the cause. If it is, how exactly does one
go about cleaning out a fuel tank if it's rusted up? Our local
mechanics who have worked on this Jeep (Ford) are at a loss as to what
could be causing the problem. Any ideas? This veh-restoration project
has been going on for about three years and I'd like to help him get
it to a point where he can enjoy the vehicle without constantly having
to tow it to the shop.

Thanks in advance for any ideas,
SBuff1@earthlink.net
